The differences mainly include the following aspects:
1. The production process is different
Particleboard is a wood-based panel made of wood or other wood and fiber materials that are glued together under pressure and heat; MDF is made by crushing wood and fiber materials in water and then using adhesive made.
The material cross-section of particleboard is three layers, the outer two layers are fine particles, and the middle layer has larger particles; density board is also called fiberboard, and its cross-section has the same color and particle size distribution.
3. Different characteristics
Particleboard has better moisture resistance, water absorption expansion rate, and nail holding power; density board has poor moisture resistance, but has better shaping ability, and the base material of pvc adsorption door panels is mostly density board.
4. The processing technology is different
Since the raw material of density board is close to powder, the same volume of material has a surface area much larger than the layered sawdust used in particle board. The adhesive consumed by the bonding and forming of the board is also far more than that of the particleboard, which determines that the price, density (specific gravity) and formaldehyde content of the density board are higher than that of the particleboard. It can be seen that the high price of MDF is due to high cost rather than high performance.
